Been unable to determine as to what color the running boards were. Were they painted same color as the body?
Were they black? Was there an option for black regardless of body color?
I have been searching this forum, out there on the Internet without locating a definitive answer. My truck was originally
Vermilion Red.
Appreciate the reply. I suspected that they were black. However, photo's of 'restored' trucks have had them painted the same color as the body.
Secomd paint color question. Dashboard. From old B/W photos the dashboard is painted the same color as the truck body. However, it looks as if the glove compartment, or as it was called back then the "dispatch compartment' and the grille where the radio speaker would be were painted a silverish color. Your thoughts on that?
I just had mine repainted 2 years ; we used the standard Ford Argent Silver and did a matte clear coat to give a little protection against scratches since it is a metallic.
Here's one of the finest examples of a 51-2 dash you'll find, restored by one of our own here on the forum.
I noticed the inside of the glove compartment door was silver in color, your reply confirms my thoughts on the that..........thanks
And for fun there’s a recommendation oil type sticker also in silver that’s usually found on 51/52 on the back of the glove box door, to the right of the data plate. They’re reproduced as well.

Thanks for that detail. Was not aware of that detail.

you’ll sometimes still see an original glove box door on eBay for sale with the original sticker still on. I believe both 51 and 52 had them. For sure 52. The glove box locks were I believe the first ones for ford on a truck. That feature came with a five star extra cab.
The oil sticker on the glove box door of my 54 is in great shape
I think the 53-55 stickers are the same as the 51-52. I'm not home so I can't post a picture of it now.

I believe they are. I was looking for a picture myself.
