they claim that is a direct replacement with no tuning needed. But, I see two 1" passages not used on the new product that was on the old OEM solution...anyone have any idea what those holes at 3:00 and 9:00 are and if that will throw a code.
……………………………….Hello, Those passages are anti-noise chambers in the intake, blocking them off has no effect on the engine whatsoever. Please let us know if you have any more questions. Thanks!
One thing is certain, it would make cleaning the soot out of the lower intake a breeze. Getting that upper out with the bolts that won't come out and get in the way is a royal PITA!! That alone would be worth it if you plan to keep the truck a long time and not delete it. I plan to clean mine out every 50K or so. I normally am not one for a catch can on a street vehicle, but I am for this engine, along with the CCV mods to help keep the oil out the lower so the soot doesn't gum up and coke.
I do plan on keeping my truck for a long time. She's paid off in two more payments in 2023. I'm not deleting because I live in a CARB state... she's been running real good with almost 100k miles now.
Going to be taking the intake manifold off soon for the DPK kit install... will take pics and want to clean since it's off...
I installed my Mishimoto oil catch can about 48k miles ago... Dec. 2019.

I was going to ask that you update on how you got the upper out with the bolts being still attached to the upper, but see yours is a 16, which, is like the 12 I had and weren't an issue, but are a PITA on the 19. I was not able to remove the upper from under the cowl and had to work around it.

The lower is still in play though since it has the inlet for the EGR. The full kit is the upper and CAI only.

you cut some 1/2 hose to 1/2 in length. Slice each on one side so you can open the hose . Put one under the head of each bolt . The upper intake will slide right out since no bolts will catch on anything .

You know, sometimes it is the simplest things that you never even think about that work. SMDH
