Hi everyone! I’m new to this, and I just wanted people with experience to give their 2 sense. I’m looking at purchasing a 2013 F350. 246,XXX. Guy that owns it seems very knowledgeable and doesn’t even want to sell it. His reason is his wife and him are moving, and they have a baby on the way. Oil change every 5k miles. Fuel filter change every 10K. He purchased the truck at 101,000 miles and has driven it daily since. Seems like a stand up guy that takes care of his stuff. I believe it is a good deal. 26,500. Truck is on a 4-6” Kelderman. Airs up to 10”. 24” rims and 37” tires. Forgot to mention it’s a SRW Super Crew. Truck is in good condition. Offered to let me take it for a spin when I get back home. The reason I’m posting is because I’m 19, in the Air Force. I don’t want to get a truck that’s gonna cost me more than I can afford. I am aware of the CP4 pump failure. And that diesel is more expensive. Lol. But I’ve always wanted a diesel. I know the 6.4 & 6.0 isn’t great. And the 7.3 is a biscuit. Lol. I’m very mechanically inclined. And I hear that most work requires pulling the cab. I am aware that most diesel expenses are way more pricey. But I am willing to deal with that. I just won’t be able to afford catastrophic failure. 6.7 is a good engine. Proven. I just wanted others opinion on the situation. Truck was deleted at 180k miles. Was stock before that. So most of its life it was just on some tires. What do y’all think? Any advice?
Man. A truck, house, dog and a boat. There’s gotta be a country song there somewhere.
And the woods...
The Kelderman suspension system is a solid set up. Riding on air bags is a lot smoother than steel springs. A pavement queen to be sure but if all you're going to do is daily drive the truck, then it's worth considering. Make sure he has all maintenance records and receipts, can't always trust everyone at their word. When's the last time the trans fluid/filter was changed? Does he have his maintenance written down with dates and mileage?
Those Kelderman suspension systems ain't cheap... so it doesn't appear he's cheap unless he bought it like that. I've always wanted to do the front of mine with their front air bag/shock system with a 1" lift you can get it with.
As for your worries on the CP4.2, you could install a DPK kit. Plenty of threads here on that... you could also install an aftermarket lift pump (AFE, FASS, Air Dog, etc...) to feed the DFCM or get rid of the factory primary pump/filter (DFCM) all together...
If you seriously consider buying this truck, make sure he has the flash tuner (with the OEM tune in case you would need it) AND the OEM emissions components in case it would require to be put back to stock for some reason. There's been some guys who have bought a deleted truck here and are just buying someone else's problems. Check your state laws when it comes to diesel trucks and emissions.
I'd run the truck through KBB or similar to see where the value is with his price. If you want a jacked up 6.7 on big tires, this could be your truck. Just make sure it's the best possible truck you'll buy with your money... do your homework before you strike a deal. Good luck...
Problem with this truck is you are in the Air Force, which means you could be sent anywhere at anytime. If you land in or near PA, CA and a few others you will be stopped and checked for emissions equipment by road pirates. Regardless of where the truck is plated, its federal law so there is no way to talk your way out of them having it towed and or impounded.
as to getting a 6.7 in general, yes its a solid engine. As far as repairs go there is a whole lot you can do yourself and even more if you have a laptop and ForScan. Unfortunately, simple things like injector changes, replacing most modules and such need "reprogramming" of the truck to let it know there's a different one in there now.
find a 6.7 just not a deleted one.
IF you insist on deleted make sure you get the tuner with the tunes and the Stock file as well. LOTS of headaches if you don't
I wouldn't touch it. Looks like a deleted bro-dozer, you have no idea how that thing's been treated or the type of tunes it's been running. It's a big gamble at best in my opinion.

Agreed. It's a lot of truck, and a whole lot of potential headaches.
I think only the OP can answer whether or not to commit money to this. It will be a money pit. It will eventually require diagnostic equipment which means the OP will need a trusty worthy shop that doesn't mind working on deleted autos.
Even if it wasn't deleted, it is a very expensive vehicle to fix anything fuel or air related. Injectors or fuel pump would be around 10 times the cost for injectors or fuel pump on similar sized gas.
