I need some honest opinions on value of my truck. Dealer has offered me 76,000 towards trade in on the new 2023. But i would like to get others honest opinions on what i should sell it for, or advertise it for.
2021 F350 Crew cab, Dually. 6.7, 10spd. It's a Lariat, with the ultimate package, chrome package, and fx4 package. Black on black.
27,400 miles on it.
I live in Minnesota, and it's never saw a winter. It's already been sitting in my machine shed for about a month for winter storage. Just don't need to drive it in the winter, as it's a pain to always hand wash under a dually, since you can't take it to an automatic car wash.
It's had the Ford version of the weathertech floor liners since day 1. Comes with the standard carpet floor mats that are still in the bags, B&W 5th wheel on the puck system, roll up tonneau cover, mud flaps, and the Ford bug/rock shield in the front.
Only 2 things it is missing is it didn't come with the LED lights, or moon roof. Otherwise it's a pretty loaded out truck. It's in immaculate shape. Not a scratch in it. Have all service records from it. Tire rotation, oil change, filters, fuel filters. You name it.
SO where should i start for a price on advertising it? KBB has it listed on private party sales from 72-77,000. Dealer offered me 76,000 towards trade. And i'm willing to let it go now. Where should i start? I'm thinking of advertising it now since i do have some time before my 2023 will come in. (obviously).....
In some states, if you trade in you only pay the tax on the difference between the traded in amount and the purchase price. There might be an advantage to trading it in, in your state.
I don't know... but you gotta ask yourself.. do you really want a 23? And if that answer is yes, are you prepared to possibly wait for a truck that may never show up?
In Minnesota, you only pay sales tax on the difference for your trade. If the dealer is offering you 76,000, you would need to get $5,320 more than the dealer offer just to break even.
That doesn't sound like the offer is in any way unfair. Of course we always want more, but that offer isn't a lowball. The dealer has to make some money off of it. There has never been a time like right now, when we can sell a vehicle for as much as we paid for it 2 years ago.

^^^^^ That, right up there ^^^^^ Personally, I would store the existing truck for the winter, or hire somebody to wash it if I couldn't. I don't understand the problem, but to each his own I guess.

I actually think the dealer's offer is very fair. But they also did tell me, i'm not committed to trading it. If i want to sell it outright before my new one comes, i can, and they would do a passthru. Dealer has been very fair with me i feel.
It does seem odd, that i bought it in 2021 for 68,500 on A plan, and now i can get more for it on trade in than i paid, or sell it outright for even more possibly.
I wouldn't mind selling it for around 82000. Since that's what A plan is on the 23.
If the dealer is willing to do a pass-thru I'd give that at least a shot. There's your tax savings and greater selling price. If you can't unload it personally, trade it. Does dealer have a time limit on their trade-in offer?

They said after March we would revisit it.
I guess a part of me is a little worried the market could drop for these used ones a little. So wouldn't mind selling it now. I just don't want to advertise to cheap, but don't want to throw a number on it, and basically have people laugh about it. I don't want to price it out of line. I honestly wouldn't even have considered ordering a 23, but, with trade values, and being able to get A plan, it's kind of a mistake if a guy wouldn't.
Don't forget the tax advantage of a trade, if that matters to you. If you can only get a few grand more for it privately you may come out ahead trading it in after settling the sales tax.
EDIT: LOL I guess others have already said this above.
