I have a couple of questions about the circuit breaker shown in the electrical schematic for my 1953 F100 with the 8BA engine. First, where is it located? Under the dash? Engine compartment? Second, does it have a reset if it trips or does it burn the breaker bar? Also, how does it function? One side of the breaker gets current directly from the battery. The opposite end of that side powers all of the lights (except headlights?), both internal and external. I assume they are still powered even if the breaker trips. The other side of the breaker powers the ignition switch, disabling the starter when tripped. I don’t understand what the BLK/ORG wire between the disabled side of the breaker and the ignition switch does. Is it just a bigger gage wire to supply high current to the headlights when the breaker is not burned out? Thanks!
I don’t know where it’s located on your truck, on my 48 it’s behind the gauges.
These are auto reset breakers. Too much current will heat it up and trip it, when it cools off it resets. If the beaker trips, there is no power to the lights until it resets.
