Dual master in my 48, small issue

I completed the replacement of the single circuit master with a dual circuit master today. I replaced all of the brake lines, hard and flex both, installed the master with the adapter and a new pushrod/eyelet. The final step today was to bleed the system, my neighbor came over and helped.

Once all 4 corners were bled I noticed the pedal was very low, so I adjusted the pushrod/eyelet. I quickly reached the end of the threads and still the pedal was very low, engaging maybe halfway down. I feel like the adapter, which is about 1/4” thick, moves the master away from the pedal connection just a bit too much, so the pushrod needs to be about 1/4” longer.

The question is, how can I make it slightly longer without making it weaker? Would a coupler like this one from McMaster handle the job?

What have other folks done in this conversion?

Hi Bob, I used a coupler just like the one you have pictured to get the length I needed on my old F2 when I added a dual M/C. It put the pivot point right in the sweet spot for best leverage. Didn't feel it compromised the strength.

Thx Tom.

I haven’t been able to locate a coupler like that, just a thread adapter with different threads on each end. I did find a female to female coupler and a threaded rod, so hopefully that will work.
