Which Transmission & some solar stuff.

I went to see my new friend who lives 30 miles from me....Charlie Led & others who know San Diego County....I live in Carmel Valley and Blake my new friend lives a block north of the Old Hwy 80 and Los Coaches Rd intersection.

I went to see Blake so we could figure out how to add solar power as a power source for Ethyl THE Tool Truck's (ETTT) store/showroom. I need a new battery bank. He dabbles in LifePO4 lithium batteries....I am so through dealing with my 5 year old lead acid golf cart batteries. I murdered those golf cart batteries through neglect of every kind.

The clutch disc disintegrated pulling away from the light at that intersection. I had no problem driving the truck to the next block where Blake lives. ETTT is in Blake's back yard. Ive already removed about 80 percent of the bolts etc to pull the transmission out. He wont be available to open his gate until noon today so Ill be there then to finish removing the transmission etc. I have another flywheel that is machined and ready. I have a clutch assembly on the shelf also. I can actually start putting this all back together today also.

I have a New Process 4 speed PLUS OVERDRIVE transmission sitting in my storage locker. Its a remnant from the same year 1955 C600 parts truck I stripped. A few of you may remember 3 years ago, I needed to remove the 35 tooth ring gear carrier from ETTT and install the 37 tooth one from the parts truck.

The transmission I am about ready to remove from ETTT today is a BORG WARNER T98 4 speed.

I would like ETTT to pull freeway upgrades at a faster speed. I dont think either transmission is going to help me do that. My truck will do 65 on a flat freeway now...I dont drive that fast very much. I am more comfortable at 55mph.

Im not even sure my drive shaft will work with this New Process...I dont have the parts truck's drive shaft so if the transmissions are not interchangeable due to needing a different length of drive shaft that will make the decision for me....

Providing no drive shaft resize is needed is there any reason not to at least consider the New Process?

Opps the clutch disc fell apart

ETTT in Blake's back yard awaiting clutch work.

New Process OD transmission shift pattern is weird...no?

Bluetti Solar Generator is wired into the existing electric control panel NO solar panels yet

I can't help on the transmission swap other than OD will definitely help lower your RPMs on the highway. But I wouldn't nix's the swap due to a driveshaft issue. You can get one cut down fairly cheap. You can even get one made for probably under $500. And balancing a driveshaft almost always helps on our old trucks.
Just my 2¢
