I was looking at this truck to buy for a long term project (not looking to make it a show truck) but I noticed it has quite a bit of roof line rust and was wondering if this is something that is repairable, or should I move on from this truck? I attached one of the pictures to show what I am talking about. Other than that rust its really not in bad shape. I do plan on taking cab off and redoing floors and cab mounts.
Considering that the only way to "repair" rust is to remove and replace, I would figure you'll be looking for a donor roof at the very least. At most, a donor cab. Can't see any other practical way to repair that seam. Price and location definitely play a part in what else is available but I guess it all depends on your skill level and what you expect out of the truck. And also how deep your pockets are. As for me, I'd pass since in my neck of the woods we generally only read about rust. Others have started with far worse.
I would definitely pass. But, just the same, you'll find members here who have no problem tackling that. I know you're in the northeast and what's available in California doesn't help you much, although they do make trailers for just that sort of thing. I see these trucks in Cali all the time. Hardly a week goes by, if I'm on the road, that I don't spot one in a field, garage, yard or somewhere. They won't have the problem that you show.
