My 64 f350 came to me with two different size tires 700x17 an 750x17, what is the proper tire size, more looking to find out height cause anything above 50 and she screams.
The 7.50-17” is 34” tall, and the 7.00” probably an inch shorter. Any tire having the old sizing in inches will be taller than modern metric sized tires of comparable sizing. The metric sizes are wider and lower profile than the old sizes. To achieve the same diameter in a metric size you’d have to go to a 245/85R17” iirc. As tires get taller they also get wider, and would probably require a wider set of rims.
I’m not aware of any radial 8R17.5” traction treads, but Mr. Google can probably help there. They would be shorter at about 32” I believe.
Your bigger problems here, if I’m seeing this right, are your widow maker Firestone RH-5° stock 17” rims. Probably would have trouble getting tires of any description mounted on them. Custom wheels having 19.5” diameter rims with a 255/85R19.5” set of traction tires might be a solution. Stu
