I restored a 1938 1 1/2 ton dump in 1986 and am redoing it after 35 years of great times. Had some great help from the Forum finding a replacement bent wheel.
In 1986 I had my steering wheel refurbished by someone due to cracking. It now has more cracks. The wheel seems to be sound and I think these cracks are just superficial but would like to clean them up. Some kind of gloss plastic filler might do it but I have scoured my shop and the internet and can not find anything that seems appropriate. Could wrap it in leather but that might be tacky.
Also I need to replace some of the green cardboard interior cab finish. I got a bunch in the 80's at the Carlisle/Harrisburg meet but cannot find any online or locally in No Virginia.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Macs Cartouche has the green interior panel kit. Oh wait, the description says 1940 through 1947. Maybe a phone call unless you’ve already done that. Stu

Looks like the color and texture of what I am looking for but doubt if kit would fit. Only need about 3 sq ft to finish. Could buy a kit but at $350 I'll pass for now
thanks

Tried from 1986 to 1992 to find the original color mix of kind of a muddy green. Restoration was complete but all black not like the original green cab and black fenders and bed. The only original green was on the backside of the ashtray. The old Ford factory formula colors did not work. I had 3 body shops try to match it and no go. In 1992 a buddy called me from his Jaguar dealership to come look at a new Jag they got in. 1992 Jag "Jaguar British Racing Green" and it was a perfect match.

JB weld will be black if you mix it with more of the black. Place plastic wrap on it to get the shiny surface.. I would also scrape out the cracks before filling.

Looked up specs and looks like that will be perfect. Dries hard not like caulking. Never new thy had black.
Will clean up with acetone as well. Ordering some now
Great Idea
Thanks

Home depot has it in stock. It has one part in black and one part in white. The directions call for half black and half white then stir thoroughly. You can add extra black without any harm. It takes a long time to set up.

JB Weld is my go to adhesive but never used it in black. Got the lead from another trucker so ordered from Amazon. Got tube in but it is one part and looks like a caulk but says sets up hard and black. Part number is J-B 31319RTV. I think it cleans up with Acetone but going to do a sample peace first. After your post I went back to JB and found 2 part that dries black [ part # J-B 50139] so ordered a tube of that to do second test run. I hope either will not only fill the cracks in my 1938 steering wheels but bind the cracks together. Will report back as to outcome.
Got my 38 back from the shop after a compete engine rebuild but wiring was all messed up. I had jury rigged something wires over the last 35 years [ directional signals, fog lamps, spot light and by passed steering column light switch] but the rebuild guys just tried to put it back per the Ford wiring diagram. What a mess. 5 days of rewiring and finally got all lights working at 6:00 last night then everything went dark. At some point a 20 amp glass fuse was installed and it blows soon as I turn on headlights. Time to start tracking wires. Guess is I have a wire grounded on the frame somewhere.
Oh well
If it was easy anyone could do it.
