The PA Chapter's "It's Almost Showtime" May 2021 Chat and B/S Thread
One third of 2021 is already in the books. Yes, really. I swear the older I get, the faster time moves. This time with the calendar flop it moves us closer to "showtime," at least in my world. I still have a LOT to do, parts are sometimes tough to come by, and on top of it all I've transitioned back to the plant so that adds its own level of confusion. Been here before - we'll pull it through.
It's too bad I won't have the truck together, as there's a charity benefit show at the local shopping mall on Sunday afternoon. Would be nice to get it to make an appearance for the first time since October of 2019. Yes, it's been that long.
I'm beat since the change back to 5AM wakeups....so, you know what to do.
Howdy. Taking a quick breather before I go cut the grass. Got lucky to not deal with the real high winds they had forecast, and it warmed up nicely after a pretty brisk start. Not gonna lie, felt good to lay in bed for a little longer than I normally do today.
Much to get done, taking a run at getting the 98 ready to go to that charity show tomorrow afternoon - no guarantees it happens but gonna try. Big hoss needs to get out of its cage.
Sensational Sunday morning PA and all the crew. Hope you weekend start to the new month has been good and rest up for the new week.
Sunny and 80° here today but rain moving in in the night through Monday. Hope Ma Nature is good to you!

Ford's 2001 Explorer Sportsman Concept Looks For a New Home
Good Sunday afternoon Pa. Look what showed up in my driveway:
so my ex gave this to my daughter who lives with me, we purchased this new in 2001. Now has 109k miles on it, new tires, reman transmission 15k mile ago (ex smoke it pulling travel trailer that was over towing rating, plus she didn’t lock out overdrive!), body looks to be in good shape. Has some small issues like P0442 code and melted EGR harness as it was up against EGR tube, AC could be colder but 4WD seems to work, runs and drives. My daughter said she doesn’t want me to worry about but I will help my kids out when I can and it’s kinda of a hobby for me!
Fell short of my plans to get the 98 out today, forgot I needed to order something to finish one thing that would let it be road ready...oops. Forced me to get a lot of other things done though, so, there's that.
That Expedition looks good, Chris. I really liked the one I had (was a little older, a 98) and it treated me well overall. It gave me a few problems with the idle air control at the wrong time (meaning "I got a little bit of an itch to buy something else") or otherwise I'd still probably have it. Was right at 200k miles when I sold it. My 2010 has been such a disappointment.
Bill, really for a 20 year old truck it’s not bad, I mean at that point it’s pretty common to have some issues. Loved my 97 at 192k the transmission had a shift into second gear a little delayed and decided to trade in on 2005 Excursion instead of putting $2k into a transmission which I knew was what’s it needed.
Nice Ex-pedition. Kind of low mileage for the year!
Yes, I think only like 29k miles the last 9 years, it’s due for inspection by end of June and according to Pa state inspection sticker just over 2k miles since last June.
Need to give it a good going over, looked at today and found some dry rotted vacuum hoses which my be the reason for the P0442 evaporative small leak emissions code, a melted EGR wire that was up against EGR tube from exhaust manifold and a rotted out vapor canister bracket. Air filter looked nasty, all fluids need changed except engine and transmission and fuel filer changed just because. Will check brakes and front end next weekend. Has ABS light also need to check wheel sensors wiring and maybe get that scanned if I can’t find something obvious. Don’t think my ODB II scanner will read ABS codes.
