1941 Pickup, 5.4L EFI setup question

I have a 5.4L from a 2000 F-150 in my pickup, and I'm not really versed in EFI like I am in carburetion. What are the essentials in the system as they pertain to this engine specifically in order to get it running? I have the ECU from the original truck. I know I'll need an O2 sensor in the exhaust, but is the EGR setup necessary? I have an original tank, so I'll be using a high pressure in line fuel pump (~35-40 PSI, ~35 GPH to match the original pump). Does it need a pressure regulator? I heard this engine regulates the pressure in the throttle body. Any help is greatly appreciated! This is all new and I want to get it right. Thank you!!!!!
