Hey guys... im just starting to chop a bit in the front end, im looking to do a rotation...but the rears on the inside are steel...how do you do a dually swap rear to front and not have just steel showing? It doesn't make any sense to change tires to the rear. Whats the scoop fellas?
You have to break down the tires and swap them from rim to rim.......or.....but 4 steel rims and then you can do a true rotation verses side to side swap like the owner's manual shows.
I bought 4 steel rims so I could do a true rotation.....too bad not close..I took them off the truck when I sold it...
I just didn’t worry about it on my dually. Wore out the front pair and replaced them. Rears are good for another few thousand miles then I’ll buy those four. Breaking up the purchase of 6 tires at once makes it hurt just a little less.
On dually’s, as long as the rears are wearing even I don’t mess with the rears; then just swap steer tires side to side every 7500 miles.
Did this on my ‘16 and had almost 60,000 on the original tires when I traded trucks.
Did it the same on my big rigs every 10,000 and would get 100,000 + out of a set of steer tires.
the steel wheels have 4 windows in the wheel and the aluminum has 5....makes for airing up the inner rear tire a bit of a pain....and you can almost forget using the braided air hose rv extensions.
