Understanding DPF Load and DPF Soot readings

I have done some research but haven't been satisfied yet. So maybe someone can give me a better under standing of what DPF Load is in connection with DPF Soot. On my 2015 6.7l, 37,000 miles, using FORScan Lite with gauges setup in Dash Board, the DPF Soot gauge units is grams/liter. The DPF Load gauge is 0 to 100 %.

Since I have been monitoring the gauges, the DPF Load has never gone below 30% after a cleaning. It went to 127% before regen. The last regen started at 509 miles.
The DPF Soot gauge before last regen was at 3.0 g/l and dropped to 1.53 g/l after regen.

MPG has increased some since using Motorcraft fuel additive.

It seems to me that the filter doesn't get a thorough cleaning. It has only been a month since I started monitoring and paying attention to the exhaust emission system and I don't know but maybe I should continue monitoring and making sure engine gets a work out when driving and before shutting it down at home. And see if it gets better. I don't know if what I am reading from the gauges is a concern or not at this time.

FORScan and others do not seem to give "accurate" readings in relation to what Ford has programmed the ECU/PCM. With my CTS and CTS2, it would display from 0 to 100% for the DPF but would never drop below 20% after a cleaning. Even if the DPF was at 100%, the Soot level would go up to 3.40-3.43 g/lt before a regen would start and then after cleaning it would show about 1.8 to 1.9 g/lt. If I shut off the truck prior to regen and the DPF was at 1005, when i started up the truck again, the DPF would read blank until it regened enough to get the % at 100% or below.

Ford set the mileage to 500 miles after the last complete regen as the max distance between regens. Depending on what the ECU/PCM interpreted from the parameters, it might start a at any percentage of DPF load or soot levels.

Most of us used FORScan to turn on the Exhaust Filter screen so we could watch what Ford thought the DPF load was.

But it comes down to just frive the truck and not worry abut the DPF load nor the soot %.....The ECU/PCM will do as it pleases to clean the DPF filter.

One other thing that concerns me is the DPF DP is 39 psi.

IF I remember correctly, the original iDash I had did the grams per liter thing. Never really understood it anyway.

With the iDash 1.8, I watch the soot load percentage PID and the on/off for regens or OFF/ACT PID. The truck DPF gauge is enabled. The iDash is more accurate or rather more sensitive to changes as it will show the changes by approximately 0.5 % ( probably just an average as i have seen 0.4, 0.5, 0.6 and 0.7 changes when it rises or falls). We know the truck gauge does not drop during passive regeneration.

My last regen was about 500 miles. The regen before it was about 500 miles. I wrote it down but can't find the note. Anyways, the iDash caught up to the truck at 95%. When the filter went full, it took a mile for the active regen to go on. The iDash had gone down to 90.4% as EGT4 was fairly hot ( above 500 deg) as I was on the Expressway climbing hills because I was anticipating the regen with the miles almost at 500. I wrote notes down. The regen went 23 miles and the truck gauge went to 15% which is the lowest I've seen in a long time if I have seen it before.

The iDash was at 4.x% when the regen shut off. It passively regened down to 0.0.

I have seen my iDash 1.8 go up past 100% also. I believe I've seen it at a high of 131%. I'll have to check my notebook.

did manual regen a few times. manual regen usally ends about 6%. dirve it for about 5 minutes after regen ends and it drops to another 4%.

never got 0%
