I ordered a complete horn kit from a prominent supplier for my 53 F100 back in October and finally got around to installing it. Everything went in nicely and was new. Wired it, test shorted it, and the horn honked.
Now last step was to put the beautiful new horn button in place and twist it over the spring, right? WRONG. Button would not latch. I read every thread on the forum to no avail.
Got some good ideas, but nothing worked. I finally put all parts, old and new, on the workbench and did a comparison. The new support cup was an eighth of an inch taller and the slots for the spring were that much deeper,
I put it all back together with the old support cup and it worked first try. Just a reminder to check replacement parts thoroughly. Reminds me of the battery box that didn't fit...
