I changed out the diff fluid (full synthetic but it wasn't labeled as LS ready) and added the friction modifier for the limited slip. the truck has just 66k miles but it is a 1997. the limited slip seemed to be working pretty good during our recent winter weather. but on dry pavement it seemed like I could hear and feel it working. I'm hoping that the fluid swap will extend the LS life. I'm running a non-aggressive tire and we like to go to the beach. So, the LS is a big help there. Especially, if i'm hauling the 35ft camper. First test run seemed quiet and smooth. I cleaned up the tag and it appears to confirm that I have a 3.55 LS diff. Gears looked good and I didn't see much for metal shavings. Hopefully, I'm in good shape for a while.

66k miles, I think its just broken in.
I have three times that milage, about to do full rebuild soon.
My issues:
- very loud clunk when engaging drive or reverse(it is not the u-joints, loose/worn clutch discs)
- very loud bearing noises when on highway(probably pinion bearing)
- starting to sound like driving over train tracks when going slow(axle bearings square, not round)
In a different vehicle, without friction modifier, turning corners the rear end would hop, inside tire turning as if it was a locked posi, not limited slip.
Friction modifier makes the clutch discs work correctly.
In my current rear end, when truck is jacked up, in neutral, I can spin one tire by hand, and the other turns the same direction.
While jacked up in park, I can still turn one tire, but the other turns the opposite direction.
