bumping sound coming from passanger front floor, when cornering
My wife noticed it first. When you corner or take off from a stop, you get a clunk or bump or my wife calls it a crunching sound.I was just wondering if any else heard of this before.thanks
This problem is usually either the body mount on that side or a loose/worn/broken sway bay bushing.
Try go under the truck and move the sway bar. It could be the bushing or the drop link mount.
Inspect the body mount while you're down there. But to be honest, I'm not sure what you should look for. I never had that problem with my mounts. Sorry... Someone else will chime in soon.
I have the same problem. It got really bad for a while and i had it into the dealer several times with no luck of them fixing it. They started to get annoyed with me so i stopped taking it in. I think it's something in the front end.... ie. a bushing or one of the front hubs. It has lessened to the point where it's tolerable now but used to happen about every third stop. Not sure why it happens less but i'd like to get down to the bottom of it before plow season starts. please email me if you see this post. christerry@newtown-properties.com it says i'm not allowed to email you yet b/c i'm a new member or something. Thanks!
I just recently posted this same info on a thread about body mounts - here I go.
I had the identical problem and everyone said it was something different. I replaced spring spacers and bushings, greased the spacers, replaced sway bar bushings, new endlinks for the sway bar, new shocks, and finally new cab mounts.
The problem turned out to be the small "pillow" blocks that the endlink bolts go thru before they go through the frame. There was a small amount of play between the bolts and the hole in the block. This play allowed the bolt and more importantly the nut to move against the frame resulting in that irritating creaking when accelerating, stopping or turning at slow speeds.
The fix for me was to fabricate a bushing to eliminate the play, however I read a post sometime ago about the person welding the nut directly to the frame.
My dealer was no help @ all - simply stated they said there was nothing wrong that every x front end made that noise. Untrue.
