Hello all... i'm new to the this board and have only had my Excursion for three months and about 5000 miles. I got terribly stuck in the mud two nights ago. It was fun for a little while untile the police came and gave me a hard time. We ended up having to get a backhoe to come pull me out.
Since that night i've been looking at tires on the internet and reading reviews. Anyone have any recommendations for tires before I tell you what i've come up with. I have a few stringent requirments though..... 1. They can tow up to 7-8000 pounds without swaying on the road 2. Do not wonder at 80-90 MPH 3. As aggressive tread as possible so that I don't get stuck anymore.
I was just down at NTB looking at the BFG All Terrain T/A KO's in a 285/75/16 size which are 1.1 inches taller all the way around than the stock firestones. Two questions; 1. Any idea if the 285/75's will rub in the front without lifting the truck? 2. will the BFG's have too aggressive of a tread to still tow with? I probably only tow 7000 lbs at most.
Check out Nitto Grabbers. They are quieter than BFG`s with a better tread pattern. Tests say they will get you out of the mud faster and they are cheaper than BFG`s.
I`m running 305-70-16`s on 8" rims, stock suspension and have never rubbed, but I also don`t wheel it.
