Okay, here’s the deal. In my truck, I have a full aftermarket audio system minus the head unit. I was able to retain my factory sync 2 with my Ford touch and gps head unit with full functionality. Leading up to this point, my subs stopped working. I took it to the shop that did the install, they determined that I burnt out the ground terminal on the aftermarket amp and that because the amp was discontinued I would have to purchase a different amp. I got the new amp and they installed it the same day. They tuned the amp with the truck running and and I left it idling when I went in to pay. I get home and shut the truck off and I first noticed something was wrong when I took the key out and the seat didn’t slide back. I tried it a few more times just cycling the key without starting the truck. Nothing, okay fuse. I’ll deal with it later. Keys out of the ignition entirely. I open the door, truck starts beeping and radio stays on. Re-cycled everything and the problem remains. I look into it and start testing things I never considered. Key out door open. Wipers still work, radio still works, windows still work, door button illumination is still on, center stack lights stay on, and when I use the key fob to lock the truck it double honks at me. Tested the situation with lights in auto and off although I didn’t think that was the problem. It’s worth noting that the system includes both the factory amp to retain function and the aftermarket amp. I’ve spent hours looking into this clicking every link I came across on google, everything I found pertains to older pre-sync vehicles. I’m already planning on taking the truck back to the shop first thing tommorow to hopefully get it fixed but I want y’alls opinions and wisdom. The trucks currently sitting with the radio fuse pulled to slow the battery drain but I can’t pull every fuse related to what’s staying on when I remove the key and open the door. So, what do y’all think?
You need to take truck back to the stereo shop. It would appear that they hooked up a wire to something that made the truck stay hot. When you open the door everything should shut off.
The system has been installed about 6 years and hasn’t been a problem up until now. I did take it to the shop yesterday and they fixed it. Turned out to be a small error by one of the installers. There is a trigger wire running from my ignition to the remote input terminal on the amp. The new amp also has a remote output where as the old one didn’t. The new amp came pre wired at the remote terminals, the installer spliced both the input and output wires together then connected it to the trigger wire from the ignition so it had a constant power loop never allowing the system to shut off. Took less then 2 minutes for the shop to discover the issue and fix it
