Add my welcome. You’re looking for a set of wheels that were never available, nor produced, as an OEM option. The stock DRWs were 16” having the two part Firestone RHP type rims. I remember one former member that had 19.5s custom produced (scratch built) at Stockton Wheel in CA. I believe Stockton referred to them as in their custom Power Wagon series. Another custom wheel producer you might contact is Wheels Now in WI.
A more common wheel solution for these trucks is a set of the DRW 17.5” wheels that were an OEM option. The 8-17.5” tires are approximately the same diameter as the original 7.50-16s. These OEM sets aren’t falling out of trees, but they can occasionally be found in yards. Stu
So what your telling me is to get a new/diff axle? I have a set of 10 lug 19.5s. Any idea where I could get an axle for them? Maybe front and rear. It's odd that the axle on the truck is a 6 lug dually. I don't believe it was the stock axle.
No, that’s not what I’m suggesting at all. A 10 lug x 7.25” Ford or GM rear axle swap would be way too wide for your truck, and you’d still have the front axle mix-matched. Swapping a front axle is a big job and messes with steering geometry. All F-350s from 1953 to 1966 came with the 6 lug x 7.25” bolt pattern. If your truck was not originally a DRW, and you don’t need the DRW, there were SRW 19.5s that were optional beginning in 1956. They are Budd #70740. If the axle has a 6 x 7.25” pattern it probably is the original, but if not the pattern was also used throughout the 1950s/60s by Dodge, IHC, and Studebaker. Maybe post some pictures of what you have now, and probably it would help if we knew why you want to switch to 19.5s. Stu
I do have 19.5s that I would like to use. I was able to pick up 6 tires with 10 lug rims for $200 on a local swap. I have a set of standard rims on the truck now. I would love to get a set of dually rims at some point. My local town is Lock Haven PA.
If I’m seeing right in your picture you already have 17.5” tubeless wheels and tires. The truck is a rare original SRW F-350. Making it a DRW will interfere with the fenders, and could possibly rub the bed’s inner tubs. You can swap in an axle from a later F-450 to use the wheels, but that just seems wrong to me. Stu
The tires on the truck are 19.5s in the photo. However, I have swapped them out since the photo. The tires that came with the truck were dry rotted and 15 yrs old. New tires are 19.5s as well. Currently I have the bed, rear wells, and running boards removed. Just finished cleaning up the rear of the frame (cab back) and gave it a fresh coat of black paint. Planning to run some new brake lines and wires for the rear lights before I start on the bed. Have a friend at work that will paint the parts individually for me as long as I purchase the paint. Thinking of lite blue. The original color.
Welcome to FTE. Nice looking truck. More pictures are needed.
Here is the thread on Truckstock: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-plan-now.html
It's a meeting of old Ford truck guys....well we have had some other brands attend as well. Small group of FTE folk that want to meet and talk trucks.
It is in your backyard, so no excuse not to attend. My goal is to drive there from Central Missouri in my 55 F250.
Truckstock started in Kentucky and has been a great event (I have yet to attend in person).
