Holly 94

Does anyone know if there are bushings available for the throttle shafts on the 94 series carburetors? Stupid me bought a couple of "rebuilt" carbs off e-bay. Wasn't ready for them so took a quick look at them and put em on the shelf. Now ready for first start of engine and find that I've been screwed. Throttle shafts are floppy, threaded holes in air horn are stripped, and even the float needle was installed upside-down. I can repair threads, but can't see fixing throttle shafts without bushings. Grrrrr

There are oversize shafts sold, I think they are 0.005" O/S. Vintage Speed among others sell them,as well as throttle sections already reamed and fitted with O/S shafts and throttle plates.

There are a couple of people around that do a real job of rebuilding, including "1952henry" on here.

Check with Daytona parts Co. They are strictly a carburetor rebuilding and parts company. Had them rebuild my Holly 94 a few months ago, and it turned out great. They may have the parts your looking for in stock, without having to send them the carb. But if you want to have rebuilt, send yours in. Daytona Parts Home is their web site.

Have you tried that carb yet to see if it leaks? I notice they used (2) bowl cover gaskets on it. I'm having trouble with one leaking and that might help. They used to make a thicker gasket that re-builders often used. - Bob

I bought 2 cheap ones on ebay and with mine ithink i can make 1 decent carb. They ran a bolt in the upper vacuum inlet ruining the threads , bottom linkage jammed up and upper on other is gone. Ill be rebuilding in 2 weeks.

52 4x4 - They actually bought that to my attention when I picked up the carb from them. He said in his years of doing thousands of rebuilds, they have simply learned that having the thicker gasket by using two, enable a better seal and future tightening should that ever be done by the carb / vehicle owner down the road. The rebuild estimate was $250, and the same when I picked it up. They even went thru the importance of having the proper fuel pressure if I went with an electric fuel pump. kinda nice both dropping off the old and when picking up the rebuilt, how the two I dealt with (Original owner and his son) were in absolutely no hurry to quickly get me back out the door. Any and all questions were more than just answered, they would actually grab mine or other carbs to demonstrate what they were talking about.

I am finishing up the rewire of the entire truck with one of the Painless harnesses. I am about to order a few of the voltage drop thingies for m original gauges I am about to re-install. They all cleaned up really nice, so no point in spending $600+ on a new old looking set.

The last pieces to be attached to the Painless kit is the light switch (damn there are a lot of connections on the original switch), the ignition button, and the keyed ignition switch. once I have all of these connected, I will probably try the re-start and breath a huge sigh of relief, then go about finishing the gauge wire attachments, re-install my new bed wood (8 coats of Tung Oil applied pre-Corona), and take her for a casual yet very nervous first drive around the island, with there not being any traffic to speak of, and keep my fingers crossed all goes well.

Pre-Corona - - Always good to do detailed finish work before breaking out the after work fermented and carbonated libations that come in glass bottles.
Post-Corona - - hands not steady, brain does not care, etc.

OrlandoF1 - Thanks for that info on Daytona Parts Co. I had a few questions while working on a Holley 4-Barrel for a guy last fall, and it was recommended that I call Daytona. I did, and they were able to answer my questions and gave me a few tips, too. I was left with a positive impression of them. Thanks! - Bob
