After a couple year hiatus I've gotten the itch to build another truck. When I was maybe 10 years old my dad bought this f250 for a low buck build for us to do. We swapped in a 360/c6 combo, a d44 rear axle, and started to set up a twin I beam front end in it. Life got in the way and it has been sitting for maybe 10 years without much activity. So I got my hands on a cheap 2006 grand marquis for a donor. Right now im leaning towards putting the truck body on the car frame. I'll decide when I have the car stripped for a better inspection and can take some measurements. Either way I plan to run the 4.6 and keep as many creature comforts from the car that I can. In next few months I'll be hauling it out and cleaning it up and making a plan for the build.
Not much to report on, going to be a busy summer and fall around the homestead and with baby #2 due in November it's going to be hard to find time. I did get the front clip stripped down in preparation for body removal. Sold the bumper cover on a facebook group
Yes, the Crown Vic has been done, but it is to wide, it also use's a special offset wheel.
I would politely suggest that you read all you can about it ... and do some measuring tape work first, ... or not.

Took me a while to find this, the first link was the one that I was looking for, the second link has 11 pages that I did not re-read and the pictures are missing thanks to Photobucket.
A company called 321 makes a narrowed cross-member, which actually says something, why would a company make some thing if there was no need for it ?

I'm aware of the narrowed x-members available, as are different control arms to narrow them. Mostly sold to guys that dont want the look of a high positive offset wheel and want to run something more "old school", which would be way too wide with the stock track width of the Panther. I'm actually planning to run stock 17" steelies from a CVPI. Anything that might rub, well I'll just deal with it when I get there, it's only sheet metal after all.

Nothing huge, but last night i hauled the 55 out of the bushes and over to my garage. Also got the grand marquis started up and started to put a plan together. Plan is to start chopping up the body of GM this week. This build is long overdue, cant wait to get it running and start torturing it. Stay tuned
Bought the truck missing the drivers rear fender. Passenger side wasn't in the greatest shape either. Traded a few parts I had laying around for a set of pretty straight dodge fenders, most people wont know the difference and will work great for what I'm doing with the truck.
Long overdue update
Between 3 young children, a hobby farm, a full time job and some side hustles, I have to make time late at night or take 20 - 30 minutes whenever I can for personal projects.
I've decided to take the winter off from working on customers stuff to focus on my personal projects.
Cab and front clip is mocked up in position, as well as the steering column. Next step is fabbing body mounts and start running harnesses. I had a few cans of semi gloss black paint and wanted to see how it would look. Definitely doing the whole truck in this stuff when the time comes. Won't be doing much body work, if any at all. My goal is to have it running and driving under its own power by spring, and once it's complete, focus on making it faster. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves
I'm not sure if I missed something but did you use the whole frame or just the front crossmember? I'm thinking about doing a Crown Vic chassis under one of my panels since it's frame was butchered up to make it into a trailer.

56 Panel
full frame. Here's a better pic. My OG frame was in great shape, but needed a complete steering/suspension/brake overhaul. Plus I wanna go fast and carve corners with this, so the frame swap made the most sense
