Had a power steering fluid leak. Wasn't sure where the problem was. Ended up ordering a remanufactured hydroboost and swapping it out with the old hydroboost.
Upon putting everything back together, I now have a brake light that stays on. It appears I need to trim a portion of the new brake lever arm. I also learned their was a loose high pressure power steering connectors that is likely the reason for my leak. It appears I didn't need to replace the hydroboost.
My issue. Upon putting everything back together, the power steering "locks" up. When I start the truck up the steering wheel is normal and moves freely. When I take my truck for a little drive the steering wheel is normal and moves freely. However, when I enter my parking area the steering wheel "locks" up. It "locks" up before I come to a complete stop. Any ideas for this?
A little bummed I swapped out a part and now have to deal with another issue.
What would the rebuild kit do? I have a new hydroboost. The plunger, spacer and spring was swapped over.
I'm wondering if the leak was masking another issue? The leak was coming from the high pressure line in the passenger direction on the hydroboost.
Here’s a bunch of very similar issues to look through. Hydroboost pumps are all commingled so you don’t have to narrow it down to your make and model.
I’m willing to bet you either have something in the hydroboost not lined up correctly, brake pedal linkage is not connected correctly or your power steering pump is compromised.
