1950 MH for sale in Vintage Truck

I just saw the classifieds in the Jan/Feb issue of Vintage Truck, there is an ad for a "1950 Ford Marmon-Herrington, very rare. One of a few survivors. Contact Rick at rick.j.bell@comcast.net in OR."

From the poor picture it looks like a ranger. It has windows cut out of the sides. I do see what appears to be an oval MH emblem on the hood.

It’s new to me, and certainly looks real based on the side window shapes and rolled edges. I checked the list Mark Mossell gave me of Rangers that are known to him and don’t have it listed under this guy’s name. Maybe Chuck will drop by and say if he knows of it. I’ll email the guy. Stu

It appears it's been modified a bit, but definitely worth a look. Depending on what part of Oregon its in, if it isn't too far from me, I'd be willing to put eyes on it, weather permitting.

Looks like it has F-2/6 front fenders and possibly the rear opening altered for the big wheels. Too bad they just didn't let it stock. I also would be interested if they screwed with the original drive train. If those parts have been replaced with something newer IMO value is way down but still would be fun to have.

I think you're right about that Bob. When I saw the big fat tires on it I thought at first it was an imposter MH.

Can't tell anything about the front hubs. It looks like chrome (well, used to be chrome) center caps for the wheels covering the front and rear hubs)
Sheet metal appears to be in pretty good condition, at least the front clip anyway

The front arches look to be opened up more than would be due to F-2/6 fenders, and the rears are much more opened up. The clue that convinces me it’s real is the look of the molded side window indentations. Compare them to this factory promo picture. I emailed the seller and Mark Mossell. Stu

It would be easy to replace the front fenders but can the rear wheel arches be fixed?

I have never seen it! It's amazing that these still turn up. Rangers have got to hold some kind of survival percentage record.

I think it’s about two dozen of the 50+ built based on Mark’s list of known survivors, to which we can now add this one, Mark Buck’s ‘52, and a ‘53 in northern Idaho that turned up a couple years ago. Then there’s the ‘50 that showed up in Ogden, UT, but I forget if you knew about it. And you know I’m sure that Clay Duckworth’s ‘50 from TX was parted out and crushed, so it gets subtracted. Stu

No, I emailed the seller asking about it but got no reply. I did, however, ask that he pass on my contact info to the buyer so hopefully there will be a reply at some point. It’s also likely that Chuck will hear more about it eventually. Stu
