When it comes out. 5 Star ordered the 7.3 so they can get tunes out asap. I think the exhaust for the 6.2 and 7.3 might be the same if the body builders specs are correct. I know the Roush 6.7 DEF back kit says 2017-2020. I'm hoping the catbacks are the same as 2017+ 6.2s.
The 7.3 comes with stainless headers, so I see no need to replace those, either. MAYBE a cat delete if you feel like messing with something and need more decibels.
Otherwise wait for the tuners and wait for reviews on them.
I want the 7.3 to replace my 19 f350, but gonna wait a few years because you know gm will up the power on the 6.6gasser , and ram might have a new 7l hemi so imagine hopefully for 2022 the for 7.3 will get bumped up to 500lb-ft and maybe 450hp..but dont care about the hp
Then there's the $10,495 price tag of the 6.7 that will buy a lot of gas. Subtracting the cost of the 7.3 that's 41,000 miles worth of gas at $3 a gallon and 14mpg average. Other gas V8's have aluminum blocks and sprayed on cylinder linings, basically throw away engines. But the 7.3 has a cast iron bock, 4 bolt mains, a forged crank. I was thinking the 6.7 diesel well there's value in how long the engine will last vs a throw away gas engine. But this 7.3 could be rebuilt so that screws up my math.
yes we have some interesting things planned for the 7.3 tuning wise , tuning support is already avail just need the vehicles to arrive so development can begin.
from the looks of it , throttle response and shifting will be sub par (ford) based on the stock file we have received looking at it...
Yeah thats interesting in the long run about the rebuildability of the 7.3.
I have a loaded 2019 Platinum 6.7 and I would look closely at getting a 7.3 Lariat if in the market again.
Update, the Ford engineer is saying they built these to run 300k-400k miles. Lets say I believe that then the 6.7 looks even less attractive to me since I don't do much towing.

I cannot abide a dog off the line throttle response so that would be a deal killer for me. A tune that would void the warranty would be equally a non starter though.
I don't think the 7.3 will average 14 MPG. Unless maybe riding around at 50 to 60 MPH and if thats all a person is doing they don't need a 3/4 ton pick up to do it.
