Can anyone confirm if this will fit behind the seats in a Platinum? Just bought a 17 F350 Platinum and looking at upgrading the bass a bit. I'm pretty sure the single enclosed JL 8" fits behind the seat, if I can wedge this in there I may go that route.
if you’re keeping the factory AMP it’s pretty tight back there. You also have the motor for the rear window. If you find an enclosure made for your truck that lets you remove the current sub and fills up the rest of the space minus the SONY amp and window motor you’re good. I am fitting 2x10” Audiomobile EVOs in a cabinet that takes up all the rear of rear seat space with the sub and amp removed (I relocate my amps under the passenger side rear seat).

Sounds amazing. Transforms the audio experience. Not going to replace a 2x12 set up but all I need.
Do you have a link to the specific one you used?
just ordered JL speakers all around the truck to upgrade based on some recent threads. Not planning on adding an amp as I don’t want anything crazy and overboard just a nice upgrade.
same concept with the sub. Sound some posts about upgrading the 8” and amp with factory box but not sold on it. Want a nice thump to add in without crazy mods and big money. I need my under seat storage also.
I had a local shop install it here in Houston. I bought the sub from them and the install was very reasonable. I imagine if you have a Sony set up I am guessing to make the fit work you would most likely need to remove the Sony stuff. Attached a few pics.
When it comes to doing the doors, try to find exact fit replacements if unsatisfied with factory issued drivers.
In years past, it was common to cut new holes for component speakers, separating the tweeter from the mid range driver.
Nowadays, with side curtain airbags, things are a little more complicated. Ford uses a pressure switch inside the door cavity, that can sense a rapid change in pressure, to activate the side curtains. The pressure sensor is calibrated for the door as built.
From Ford:
WARNING: The front side impact sensors are located in the front doors. These are pressure sensors that measure the pressure change in the front door during an impact. Do not mount anything on or in the door. Do not cut any holes in the door sheet metal, trim or waterseals. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

MTI's stuff is beautiful. The rear seat dual box could be an option if going that route. I still like the compact, powered JL box.
