2020 Central PA Mountain Truckstock, plan now!
The Bald Eagle State Park is in Centre County along Route 150 just about 8 miles north of the Milesburg Exit of Interstate 80, Exit 158 and 13 miles south of Lock Haven (Clinton County) where I live. The park is 23 miles north of State College, PA home of Penn State University. The address of the park is: 149 Main Park Road, Howard, PA 16841-3508. Phone: 814-625-2775
It is around a huge lake that was formed when they dammed the Bald Eagle Creek for flood control. So there is some great fishing and water sports here.
The Bald Eagle State Park is unique among the PA State Park system as it has a modern 16 room hotel called The Nature Inn. From their website: "Nestled within the natural beauty of Bald Eagle State Park, in the very center of the state, the Inn combines the comfortable amenities of an inviting bed and breakfast with sweeping views and door-step access to year-round land and water activities. Our walls of windows, huge decks, private balconies, and patios immerse you in nature and provide you with an unequalled natural experience." The link to the Nature Inn page is: Nature Inn
Of course there are also camper hookups, cottages, yurts, and campsites. Here is the link for the camping page: http://www.dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/Fi...ages/Stay.aspx
This is a great opportunity for the Mid Atlantic FTE'ers to get together. This year, 2019, we had a good turnout with FTE'ers coming from Maine, Wisconsin, MD, VA, Philly, Lancaster and Berks County to name a few. A great time was had by all.
Plan now and save the date! And reserve your spot now or at least ASAP. PA state parks permit reserving sites 11 months out. And we are past that date so "Get er done!" When yo look at the map of the campsites we want to be as close together as we can. The Sycamore loop is where we will stay. Get spots near the yurts, either at the beginning of the loop or near the end. The end of the loop is just behind the one yurt.
If you are planning a little vacation around this trip there is a lot to do in PA. Big attractions are Hershey Park, Gettysburg Battlefield, Lancaster County and the PA Dutch and Amish, etc. Locally we have a lot of Amish living here now. There is the Indian Caverns which is seen by boat, the Little League World Series headquarters and museum in Williamsport, The Piper Cub Museum in Lock Haven.
Also, Fall Carlisle is September 30-October 4. The Hershey Show and swap meet is October 7-10. Carlisle is 2 hours away by modern vehicle, around 90 miles away. Hershey is about 2 hours and and 20 minutes, and 110 miles away.
Let us know here if you plan to come and tell us what site you have reserved.
Thanks! I want a lot of trucks and FTE folks here in Central PA! And I want more 53-56 trucks there this year!
Make sure to call the park office and reserve you site.
Tom,. Are you getting the yurt? The one on the left whose backyard borders Dennis's and Jim's? Just say you have a pet

Yurt B had room for a dozen guys to sit and shoot the bull inside. Yurt A is the same size.
Abe, I'm holding off until I know when my wife and I are taking a trip. Very near to that weekend is our 25th anniversary.

I hope you can make it and still have an anniversary trip somewhere. Maybe she can meet you somewhere in PA or somewhere between PA and maine. Let her pick. There's lots to do in PA. A lot of bed and breakfasts, historic places, PA Dutch country in Lancaster, outlet stores, etc.
For those that don't pull a camper or pitch a tent or sleep in the back of your panel truck, there are 3 cottages on Sycamore Loop at our end plus 2 yurts.
Go here to read about them and to reserve one: https://www.dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/F...ages/Stay.aspx
Reserve your camp site or yurt or cottage very soon before they get taken by non Ford Truckers! Try to get a site between #87-100 in the Sycamore Loop if available.
The pavilions are free on a first come first basis unless they are reserved. There are 6 pavilions by the lake. I don't think we have to reserve one at $60 in early October. The lake will be a great place for photos. I don't know why we didn't go there this year.
The yurts cost $42 Sunday thru Thursday to PA residents (our tax dollars at work) and $69 on Friday-saturday. Non-residents pay $50 and $82 per night. If an out of stater wants to rent a yurt I can probably do it and you can pay me via PayPal.
There are also 3 cottages near our end of Sycamore Loop. Cottages are $35 and $42 for PA residents and $38 and $45 for non-residents.

Cottage #3 which is just off of Sycamore loop but very near our location.
Yurt B whose backside borders the sites that Dennis and Jim have reserved.
Cottage 1 which is next to yurt B and is behind Dennis's spot.
Cottage 2 with Yurt A in the background. Cottage 2 is across the drive from Yurt B. Yurt A is the one Tom (Pinecone Ford) stayed in this year.
And remember: DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS!
