Help with 7.8 parts

Hi there, I am wondering if a crank shaft from a 6.6 will work in a 7.8. Thanks I know it a 6.6 in a junk yard would save me alot not spending 1400 dollars

That will make you a 6.6. Mains appear to be the same size, rods appear to be different size. (based on a 30 second search for those parts)

Get the 6.6, you might be able to rehab it, or make one runner out of them.

Can't rehab your existing crank?

Well until I get a second person since I need a driver to pull it into the shop I belive the crank is broken but yes I was thinking of everything between the two being the same aside from the rods but didn't think that the crank would have to be different for a shorter stroke.

You can have running 6.6 and 7.8 engines for scrap price here in California. Are you near by?

ford390gashog no I'm in PA. What would the price be if you know? Depending of freight might be cheaper then a new crankshaft for around 1500.

I paid 300 for a 7.8, just remember these were running engines. However because its California these are sold as scrap only. They are required by law to cut a sqaure into the block at the oil pan edge. These are good engines if you have the time and can swap parts with a good block and oil pan.

Give me some numbers please I just need a can shaft but depending on freight charge I don't mind having extra parts as long as my block is good I can keep it going with one of those
