I had to do this when my condenser failed on the Tahoe. If you've added refrigerant, and it still blows hot, I wonder if there might be a leak in the system.
Tell us how you recharged the system. How many lbs of R134a have you put in. Did it take the full amount listed on the sticker under the hood?
Below is a link to a procedure similar to the one I used on the Tahoe. I purchased a vacuum pump and manifold gauge set from HF with good results. It's been a year and the rig is still blowing cold.
Unless you evacuated the system after installing the compressor it has air and humidity in it. If the old compressor pumped any bits out you could have a clog in the system. You didn't state how much refrigerant you added, or what the pressures are or, even if the compressor is engaging so who knows. If you used only one can you are far from full.
