ring and pinion break in period

I am wanting to get a new ring and pinion installed prior to our big camping trip this summer from South Carolina to Texas. I was going to have a local shop do the install, but can't get it to them until June 10th and then we leave on June 29th. The shop says no towing for first 300 miles and Yukon Gear says no towing for first 500 miles. Yukon then further states that first towing should be 15 minutes, then stop for 20 minutes and then repeat that 2 more times. My question is, is this break in method critical to not damaging the new gears? Also is it 100% mandatory to change the fluid after the 1st 500 miles? If so, then I would be doing that on the road with the TT connected, not really a big deal, but would just need to bring a few extra tools. Let me know your opinions and/or experiences with how to properly break in a set of gears. FYI, my truck currently has 90k miles and I would be going from a 3.73 open to a 4.3 open.

follow yukons recomendations if you buy your gears from Yukon, they are the ones who know what finish is on the gears they are selling you, likewise if you buy a Dana/Spicer gear follow their recomendation. you can buy a high dollar Pro Gear from US Gear that is machine polished and doesnt require a break in but they are spendy. Last set we bought was $900 per gear.
