Seat Frame Riddle (also seat fix procedure attached)
I have a 1996 F350 Centurion crew cab and am doing some seat rehab. The custom Centurion material is being repaired by a seamstress but I am stumped on the seat.
My understanding is that the 1994-1997 and newer all had the piano wire seat springs which is what my online research shows and is available on ebay. (first picture
However, this truck has a "bed spring" setup which has me sitting in the seat frame and not on top of it. (second picture).
I was going to apply the attached seat fix (word document) for the piano wire type seats but my frame is way different.
Does anyone know why this seat is different? Did Designs West (the make of the Centurion interior) change out the whole seat frame?
Does anyone know how I can fix this or where I can get a 40/20/40 frame with no foam or covers?
I am open to suggestions.
Jeff
An upholstery shop here in Vegas had access to interiors and, at least for mine, there were some very close matches.
So based on your understanding, I will have to look at building up the back of the seat frame (it's 1.5 inches lower than the rest of the frame) and fabricating the wire frame that all normal trucks have.
My research and looking at my buddy's 1999 F250 indicates that they all use the same wire frame so maybe I can still find one somewhere in a newer junked truck.

To answer your question, my truck is green with gold graphics.
