Instrument Cluster Resets Every 10 sec
I have a 2012 F250 XL and I recently installed a 2013 F250 King Ranch Instrument Cluster. After installing the cluster the readings on the dash were incorrect and the dash kept powering on and off every 10 seconds. I used the FORScan software to change the IPC module data to my trucks as built data. being an XL the IPC module in the new dash had a few more setting than my XL so I looked up the as built data for the King Ranch cluster and replaced the missing data with King Ranch as built data. The instrument cluster reads 100% correct and works perfect except for it still powers off and on every 10 seconds.
Anyone know the possible cause of this?
Thanks in advance!
The issue ended up being that there is small differences in the instrument clusters between the different production years [2011-2012] and [2013-2016]
In my case I was trying to use a cluster from a 2014 year truck, so I had to bite the bullet and buy another cluster that was out of a 2011 or 2012 SD
It was weird because everything still functioned with the 2014 cluster but as soon as I went to a 2012 it stopped resetting and works flawless
My guess would be the cluster you are trying to use is out of a 2011 or 2012 and you need a 2013-2016 cluster (I do have one that I can not use... I could trade clusters with you )
Glad you got it resolved and appreciate you posting the resolution.
EDIT: PS. Somewhere on the cluster would probably be the statement “DIESEL FUEL ONLY” and you can bet your azz somebody would follow instructions. For the first time in their life.
