A few months ago, the rearend in my 97 cclb 4wd locked up. I took it apart and discovered the spider gear shaft retaining bolt had broken, tbe shaft had slipped out, and pretty much trashed everything.
A local guy priced me the carrier with ring and pinion gears for $550.00.
I started talking around and some FTE buddies started answering back.
Bill hooked me up with a good ring and pinion gears that he had sitting in his shop.
Thomas shipped me a carrier with spiders he had.
I finally got it all together and driving again last weekend.
I just want to say that all the guys I have met from this forum, I consider them good friends. They are always ready to help when things go bad.
I'm glad a stumbled upon this forum a few years ago.
Thanks guys!
Also, I purchased a dually bed and rear axle from Lee and he hauled it all the way down to my house this past Sunday. I'm sure he had things of his own that he could've been doing.
And of course, it was exactly as he described it to me, unlike most times when you are shoppng and asking the seller the condition of what they are selling. Things almost always turn out to be much worse than described
Thanks Lee!
I have to say, the people on this forum are some of the most helpful I've come across. Always willing to help and give information or help out with parts. It's nice to come across people helping each other out this much.
It's good you got your truck back together and working!

That makes a really bad sound when it happens.
lol
My truck had it happen about a month after I bought it
Luckily when it hit the pinion it popped back into place and didn't break anything. But it did make it hard to find out what happened until it done it again.
