Are Diesel RX GPs any good??
I have a 97 F250 with a bad engine. I picked up a "new" used engine. I was going to put my pretty new Motorcraft Glow plugs from the old engine, in the New engine. When I took the ones out of the new engine, They are DRX00138, called Diesel RX GPs. They look very new and tested good. Are they good quality? Should I leave them or just use the Motorcrafts that are almost new. Even the valve cover gaskets look almost new. But I will replace them anyway. I have new ones on order.
BTW while the engine is out anything else I should replace??? I was thinking the rear main seal, it is leaking. Might as well do the trans front pump seal. I am going to do the oil cooler seals, really easy to get to. Fuel filter and fuel heater, the heater is the old style. (might be original) The fuel pump hoses look newer.

Oil dipstick adapter.
Low pressure oil pump and balancer if gross.
Injector orings and valve springs with stem seals. Studs if you have cash.
3" downpipe for sure.
Bellowed uppipes and tap manifold for EGT probe.
EBPV delete turbo pedestal.
I use Motorcraft plugs and HD relay with a Denso starter. Starts great in mid 20F area without being plugged into the wall.

Years ago, a member on the 6.9/7.3 IDI forum had them in his 6.9, and the tips burned off dropping into the cylinders, which in turn pounded the piston tops. He then rebuilt the engine. Yes, the IDIs and the Strokes take different GPs, but they were made by the same company. While they may have redesigned their GPs, I don't think I would trust them, especially if I had a set of Motorcraft ones I could use.

I think mine have been in at least 2 years maybe 3 or 4. They come out often though, as I am always doing something with the truck. If I had both to choose from I would go with the zd11.

I have used and sold DRX glow plugs for maybe 6 or 7 years, maybe more.
The only ones I ever had issues with were on an IDI.
I got a bunch of Bosch plugs are a very good price and I am selling those now at the same price as the DRX plugs.
In my opinion, your best choices for glow plugs are (in no particular order) Motorcraft, Bosch, and DRX. Stay away from the others found in the parts stores.
