Arrow New Guy/Mechanic Recommendation Near Loudoun?

Hi Guys,

Just picked up our new 2005 Excursion Limited last week, and really enjoying the truck so far. I have a long list of work that I'd like to get started with- some items that I feel comfortable doing myself, and others that I'd much prefer allowing a local shop to do.

Trouble is- I've yet to find a really talented and trustworthy mechanic in the area. Does anyone have any recommendations for one within 30 minutes from Leesburg, VA?
Open to individuals and/or shops.

Many thanks!

Hey. I am in the same boat here. More difficult for me to find a "reliable" Diesel shop. Experimenting with a couple of local independent shops, but though overpriced, I found that Chris at Koons Sterling Ford does good work.

Good to know, Prakash...(Koons Sterling). Thanks!
Let me know how your experiments turn out, and if anyone can provide local recommendations for us- I'm sure we'd both be grateful.

So far, here's my experience

Champion Transmissions, Herndon - Good guy, quick turn around, decent work, but cut corners on work. When I confronted him, he agreed to redo the work, but that was just additional time wasted for me. A bit pricey, IMO.

Adam Auto Works in Sterling - I have used this shop for a long time to work on cars. Nice clean shop, might sound pricey, but can bargain labor costs. Not very experienced with Diesels. Good for the small jobs - oil, brakes etc.

Autohaus in Herndon - Nice owner, knowledgeable with cars. I won't go back to him with my EX. Small shop.

R&C Auto repair in Sterling - Trying this place to have my wheel hubs replaced. Will circle back to give an update.

All in all, there aren't any "good" diesel shops in the vicinity. I heard there are a couple of shops in Culpeper that specialized in Ford Diesel engines. But that is so far out of the way, unless it was something that can fixed in a day, and that too on a weekend. Otherwise, I will be dependent on someone to tag along and give me a ride back for 60 miles OTOH, I wish my wife would let me build a separate garage for the EX

Koons Sterling on Rt. 7, about a half mile before the Ffx Cty Pkwy, when coming east from Leesburg. Ask for Joey Stickman to be your advisor and Chris to work on the EX
