Clutch pedal help please

Was driving my 99 f250 superduty tonight and hard a loud "twang" sound from under the dash as I was driving through town. My clutch pedal now returns all the way up to the underside of the dash. Mind you the clutch still works fine but you just about have to kiss your kneecaps to get your foot onto the pedal. What failed?

the bracket broke.. most likely the part that Stops the upper limit of travel.
