Owned first truck 4 weeks, now totaled

This is the first day with subsided concussion symptoms (severe headache, vomiting, nausea). Friday, Dec 1. I was stopped at a traffic light and was rear ended by an SUV that was supposedly traveling at around 45-50 mph. Only owned the truck for 4 weeks, now it’s totaled. Thankfully the insurance payout was more than I bought it for. Was afraid I wouldn’t find another great deal, but yesterday I found a sweet deal on a mint conditioned 2005 F-350 dually with the V10. One owner truck, 143,000 miles. Not even a hint of rust or even a scratch and full service history including all oil change receipts. Plus it has a PTO system on the auto trans.

I am extremely lucky. If I was sill driving my Subaru WRX Amy injuries might have been life threatening.

I am counting my blessings today, my friends.

Glad to hear you're improving. The truck...well, as you have already found out, there'll be another one.

I hear what youre saying. I was rear ended about three weeks ago by a woman driving an suv while i was waiting for the person in front of me to turn left. She was doing about 55. Luckily the vehicle in front of me just made the turn and i moved ahead about 20 feet...then wham. My truck...2016 f250 CCLB. $4,000 damage to mine. Hers...totaled....2014 Ford Escape. I had a passenger so im lucky to be in the truck that i was in.
Hope you feel better soon.

Glad to hear you walked away from it. Sucks to lose a new truck that soon, but it is just a truck. Be sure to post some pics of the new one though

Car accidents suck! I got T-boned by a drunk driver that ran a red light, doing 80 mph in a 30 mph zone. I'm glad I was driving my F350 and not my Civic at the time!

Like others have said, I'm glad you're (relatively) unscathed, and I'm glad you were treated fairly by the insurance company. Enjoy that new truck!

Wow! Lucky to be alive. Hope the drunk driver is doing hard time and will be off the road for many years.

Usually the person at fault gets a slap on the wrists, some fine and sent home.
It's the insurance costs that is the going to get them. I've heard some horror stories about post accident insurance that could be double or triple.

Recently a drunk driver with a DUI driving record for several offences killed a 17 year old. There are many many stories like that. All they do is declare the driving ability is required for a job.

Way too many drunks, but the accident rate is going up and up due to cell phone texting and use. They just won't stop and put the stupid cell phone down while driving. I personally watched a lady rear end a white pickup truck. She hit him hard and was shaking the cell phone around then threw it towards the passenger door. It wasn't the cell phone's fault.

The text can wait... The call can wait...

But.... they keep on...

Glad you walked away...

Drunks are one (bad ) thing. The worst thing is people on their phones all the time. This is where you get the 55 mph rear enders. The never even brake
