Hi; I have a 2003 F350 that I have acquired recently in a private sale, but shortly after purchasing it, I began having problems with speedometer not working, then windows would stop working, and radio would stop working. Sometimes all at once.
then recently, I lost power permanently to the radio, dome light, glove box light, windows, odometer, tachometer and all gages in the cluster. The door open light stays on, and brake light, susp light, and all gages are stuck on halfway.
Any suggestions as to the problem, would be greatly appreciated!? Thanks.
The windshield seal is prone to letting water leak through on these trucks and can get to your GEM causing all kinds of electrical mishaps. I'd start there.
Not sure if your year has the same two connectors on top of the speedometer/gauge panel, but my 2006 had an issue where radio and dome lights, as well as dash gauges, would just stop working. At times they’d work, at times they wouldn’t. It ended up being a lose solder point near the top right gauge connector. I removed both wire harness connectors from the gauge panel and hit every solder point with the solder gun. Problem was solved.
I once had water coming in from the windshield (Driver's side) and ran down behind the dash.
All kinds of strange things happened. I took it back to the place where the windshield was replaced. We found a place they missed with the black tar like stuff. After they did a better job of sealing it, no more problems.
To locate the hole, they placed a very bright flashlight on the roof inside and out and looked for light passing through.
