My truck has about 2700 miles on it and this week it has started making a weird noise while idling. Has anyone else had this problem yet? Kinda embarrassing having a brand new truck making this kind of noise. It starts making a clicking sound off and on then it gets louder like what you hear in the video. Thanks
The speed of the squeak/ticking noise makes me think it is belt related. Bad idler, AC compressor gap off on clutch. My 6.2 does not make this noise. Just my opinion
Does it ever go away? Is the ticking sound just on cold start up?
No it doesn't go away. While it's idling you can always hear a low ticking noise then it gets louder and after a few min's it go back to the lower tick. At the end of the video you can hear it go back to the lower tick.
I had a '16 6.2 that had a sticker I think it was on the water pump that came lose and would change sounds with speed and if the fan was on or not. I thought it was a major issue until I opened the hood.
UPDATE!! After 2 trips to the dealer my truck is still making the same noise. They thought it was a belt tensioner so they replaced that week and still didn't fix it. So they had me bring it back today and they replaced another tensioner on the truck and still no fix. Now they are starting to think it may be something in the engine causing it. But they wanted me to bring back the loaner they give me today and drive my truck until they heard back from ford which they said could take up to 5 days. I told them that they can have their truck back once mine is fixed I am tired of making trips back and forth to the dealer which is 40 mins away. At this point I am really sick of dealing with the dealer and getting the run around. I wish it was as easy as taking something back with a receipt and getting my money back. Is it a such thing as a buy back if you are not completely satisfied? If its engine related I don't want a brand new truck that has already had engine work done. My truck now has 4000 miles and Dec 9th it will be 2 months old. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks!
May be a hassle, but having another dealer look at it may be a good idea. Some dealerships just don't have well trained mechanics that know how to diagnose problems. May still be a simple problem and throwing parts at it is not the way to go.
UPDATE***I got a call from the dealership today and ford is telling them to replace the cam phasers and inspect the timing chain. At this point I'm ready to get rid
of the truck. I don't want to keep a brand new truck that has already had engine work done. I am going to talk with the GM at the dealership tomorrow to see what
they are willing to do. What would you do in my situation wait for the truck to be fixed or try to get a replacement truck????? Thanks
Just throwing this out there. I watched the Mr Truck Ike gauntlet video, the 17 f250 they used lost its fan while testing. Its in the right area and obviously can be an issue. Maybe worth a look?

This definitely sucks, but I certainly wouldn't get a different vehicle. The 6.2 is a pretty solid engine, I would let them try and fix it and see what happens. No real advantage to selling it now.

Yeah I'm with you I don't want another truck! It sucks but Im gonna see what they have to offer. For a piece of mind I say they can at least pay for an extended warranty on the truck.
