Blown Plug; Kit, plugs, process

Okay

I blew out #2 today
Prior 6.8 I didn't have an issue with plugs

about a week ago there was the irrefuatable exhaust leak. Assuming that 17 years had taken 1 or 2 of the studs on the passenger side I ordered the stud kit and planned on doing it next weekend.

Upon our return from a 70 mile trip I blew a plug about 15 miles from home pulling our 36' ft camper.
Removing the plug and debris I unplugged the coil and injector and drove it home, camper in tow.

Making it home about 2 hours ago I have dug into options online and referred to tech section on details on here for what to buy and best process.

Now I already have a set of SP 479 to put in the truck.
they are marked AGSF22WM
What is the difference to the gsf22w
-is the GSF the longer plug that makes the depth of the cyl head threads?

Secondly; I can not decide on what kit to purchase or if I should remedy the 2 plug hole or go through all of them. I was going to go purchase a dorman kit and put that in tonight; but I'm not sure that's something I want to do on a truck I plan keeping for another 150k miles or more.

Please help with;
plug type
Kit to use
Fix 1 or go through all

Thank you guys & gals

what year is your rig?

straight from my Owners manual for a 2000 Excursion

use AWSF-22E (Platinum)
More Information for MOTORCRAFT SP479

so it looks like those SP479 are correct

That exhaust leak that started to be heard last week very well may have been that plug when it worked loose, lots of folks report a similar sound prior to popping a plug out.
Time-cert or Stitch-lock are the best repair options from what I have read, you don't want a Helicoil for the plug hole repair.

Lock-N-Stitch, just FYI.

They are considerably more expensive than the Timeserts, the last time I checked though.

so the new version has more threads to accomodate the 04+ motors?

are the threads rolled on that left plug?

Do not waste your time or money on the Dorman or the Save-a-Thread inserts. More than half of the inquiries for my rental Timesert kit come from owners who have to re-repair a previous Band Aid fix, often on engines that had been "fixed" then dumped by a PO.

So what are you recommending for a remedy process for this?

that is exactly what I was looking for; thank you

I was going off the Sammi post with her replacement in the Tech folder, but wanted to know what plug was the longer.

I have already what I need for plugs

A good quality aluminum insert like Timesert.

++ TIME-SERT Official Threaded inserts for stripped threads, blown out sparkplugs,

Thank you Stewart!

Fortunately I was able to track down the prior owner that was in here to find out if they just tampered with cyl 1 & 2 where the new coil packs are or if they went after all 10 spark plugs
