A quick review of Ebay YFA carb:
My original carb was tired and due for a rebuild, so I weighed my options between a rebuild kit for around $25 and a new chinese made electric choke one for around $100. The carb arrived in record time in a box labeled 'Rally'. I closely inspected the carb and noticed it was a non emissions control manual trans carb. Perfect for me. What I had was an emissions carb with the slow throttle closing dashpot. There are no OEM markings on it to id the carb- no Carter, no motorcraft, no id tag- nothing but 'Rally'.
There are lots of dings and gouges on the carb body, some I had to clean up like on the sealing surface to the intake. The choke mechanism with adjusting screws was bent out to where the adjusting screws were riding off the surface they were supposed to touch and getting the mechanism jammed. It did not look like transport damage, It was just not made right to start, I bent the bracket a bit to where everything lined up right and installed. I expected the choke adjustment to be off due to this, but the engine fired up after a few turns and the choke worked perfectly. A test drive revealed no concerns and no leaks.
