Repaint color change on the cheap

Repaint color change on the cheap
Should I or shouldn't I???
I have two cases of high quality touch-up spray paint in 71 Ford Candy apple red. My truck has a lot of surface rust but no major rust through other than the roof which has some pin holes due to a previous owner putting home insulation under the liner. If I try this I'd expect a descent 20 footer paint job. I'd probably remove trim and do interior as well. I have all new door weather stripping and window parts anyway so that makes it easy. I don't think I want to remove the front and back glass but if I don't painting the dash would be a lot harder and not look as good along the seal. The area between the cab and bed is an issue too. Can't really see how I'd paint that without removing the bed. I'd paint the underside bed fender wells too I think or that old Springtime yellow will stand out behind the tire. I want to do this in stages to and keep it on the road. I have six cans of Wimbledon white as well and am thinking about doing the cab roof in white like the factory did along with the dash and steering wheel.
How many out there have done a rattle can respray and been happy with it? Going from Springtime Yellow to Candy Apple Red will mean any spots I miss will stand out too.

Are you afraid of making it look worse?
Only caveat is rust. Even if you sand the rust to where you think you can't see it - sanding just grinds the rust into the surface to reappear. Most times in the case of surface rust it is still a great idea to soda blast or glass bead blast the panels. This gets rid of the rust rather than grinding it in deeper.
Otherwise, GO FOR IT!
