lipstick red truck
I have a 42 1.5 stake bed. I would like to paint it red. is the bed frame painted red? Does anyone have the Ford script that goes on the side of the hood. Mine has two holes but missing the Ford.

The beds were always black. I have one '42 hood emblem that's missing the 'O' or is it the 'R'? If you find a broken one you can have mine to fill in the blanks. I will check it out tomorrow down in the back 40.

On the '48 and later trucks the script flatbed was painted body color, wood floor, stakes and wood racks, bunks and all. I think I have seen pictures of earlier trucks painted the same way.

As has been stated, the bed was black, only your cab, hood, front fenders, grille would be red. Running boards would have been black originally.
The '42 script is near impossible to find in good condition, if you can find them. They are one short year only, and not reproduced.
