Hey guys, after selling my '46 Ford Jailbar in '09 I've been dying to get another one! I scored this one in the Rocky Mountains behind Pikes Peak. I dont know what year it is, as I am still waiting on the title to be found.
It's sitting on what I believe to be a early 60's frame. Has a 9" housing in rear, and a 67 steering column. It has an odd front axle, with a tiny front diff. The spring perches are too narrow for the frame and the coils are "bent" Is it Early Bronco?
The hood is ford. The rear fender appear to be 1948-52 but I don't remember seeing that chrome strip on the side in those years. The bed is a wood slatted floor and the bolt studs that hold the fenders appear to be original.
The front fenders have Mercury emblems on them, but from the pics I can find online of Mercs they are no where near that as well as the reflector lenses under the park lights. So I'm guessing someone just added that stuff from a car? Anyone got any other ideas as to this mystery?
Those letters won't be there on a Mercury truck. The '46-'47 Mercs have a large chrome emblem that goes there. A Mercury truck would also have a Mercury name plate in the top center of the dash. I'm guessing somebody just pieced a truck together.
I wonder what the title, if they can find it would show, since all the serial numbers are lost since the trans, frame, and rating plate are gone.
What are your plans with it?
