hows it going, new here to the site i have a couple questions but my main one at the moment is how to remove an air intake tube from the engine bay, its a 2005 ford expedition air intake, one tube to the side, i know some years have a little screw that hold it in but this version of make does not the tube is attached to like a bracket near the it looks like it comes apart but even in the junk yards the only ones i can find are ripped apart and i dont wanna yank mine off the filter box if im wrong.. thanks for any help ahead of time
and can anyone explain why theres different intake tubes, and whats the point behind that in models, some have 2 little containers on the side of the tubes, some have one little one by the filter... if you need a pic i can go snap one
To remove it, I just pull sharply on the snorkel where it goes into the airbox, then roll it toward the radiator to disengage the feet from the rubber grommets. Then you can rotate it up a bit and pull it out of the fender.
Mine stays all in one piece when it comes out. Harder to write than it is to do.
The "containers" on the side of them are just resonator chambers to help make the intake quiet. Mine doesn't have those but rather a perforated core and absorption chamber much like a glass pack. Just there to help ford meet drive by noise requirements and internal NVH standards. There is no performance advantage with or with out or one style vs another. All will flow substantially more air than the engine is capable of consuming.
