The hard ride could be the tire choice, some tires ride softer than others. If you check the numbers (size) on the installed tires or the names do they have an LT or XT at the end? Those suffixes indicate it's a truck tire and those have stiffer sidewalls and give a harder ride.
the shocks are Gabriel from autozone nothing special, the tires are just a cheap street thread design. the guy I had drive it has a f150 4 x 4 and he said it rides a lot rougher than his truck. You can hear the Expedition go over every ripple on the road sucks
Depends, I have an EB (granted it's a 2005, but still) which was delivered with standard coilover suspension all around, so I guess it depends on which boxes the original owner ticks on the purchase order.
I put on Gabriel's from AutoZone and you could feel every crack and pebble in the road. The wife was not happy with her "new" ride, so I got Monroe's from RockAuto and the jittery stiffness went away.
Autozone said they will return & refund cost of the Gabriel shocks.
I ordered Monroe's from rock auto and will install this weekend and tighten the trailing arms at the ride height and let everyone know if it helps the ride.
You do have a 4X so I'm sure your ride is rougher than my 2WD Expo, but you should notice a difference. I left the Gabriels on for a few months hoping the ride would get smoother, but that never happened. For me, the Monroe's made a big difference and have been on for a couple of years without complaints. I hope it works for you as well!
