Today I put a tarp up in a room in my garage so over spray didn't get on my wife's bike, and other stuff we store there, brought in two heaters and hung up my exhaust manifolds, crossover pipe, and heat riser. Spray can said temp had to be between 60° and 90°. I got it up to 55° and started painting. I used Dupli Color satin black. The manifolds are a pair I had on the second floor of my garage for about 15 years. The ones that were on my truck were badly pitted.
Abe, those manifolds are looking good. I like the look much better than the silver manifolds you had. Do your parts have to "cook" in an oven at 400 degrees? As it happens, I was looking at manifold paint today for my project, and that's what the paint guy told me. I ended up buying Por 15 because it doesn't require baking. My wife isn't too pleased about the amount of money I'm spending on my truck these days, and I can't imagine asking to cook my smelly parts in her owen.

Thanks. I like the satin black better, too. No they don't need to cook. I painted my heads in my basement workshop when my wife was away shopping all day. She came home that night and asked what smells. I said it must be that heating oil smell from when the furnace guy cleaned our furnace that morning.
It looks like you are making progress on your e time problems too.

You really think she bought that one Abe? We are all so lucky to have the support from our spouses, even though we walk a fine line Your manifolds look great. Are those the manifolds with the broken studs or did you get them repaired.

Yes the right manifold had the broken studs. I got the heatriser off. I tried heating it with a torch after I sprayed it with PB Blaster, couldn't get them to move. Yesterday I took it to a buddy of mine that owns a garage. His employee got them out.
However, I could not find studs to fit them. So the right side will have bolts....
I've never had much luck with "high temp" paint but yours look great.
I am a fan of satin black finish so I used BBQ paint on the VW muffler I installed on the Beetle. On the truck I did use genmetal gray for my ex manifolds, which seems to have aged but still better than rusted out.

Good job.
The guy at the garage that got my broken studs out said he prefers BBQ high temp paint. I looked at it at the hardware store. It is good for 1200° while engine paint is good for 500°. And they have it in semigloss black.
Here's the paint I used. Hoping for the best. Its just the primer on the manifolds in the photos. The lovely Argent silver is on them too, I just don't those photos yet.
