Hey guys haven't been on for a while. I have obtained a V-8 Flatty and a Six Flat Head but do not know where to locate the numbers to tell what year they are from. The V-8 was in a 1948 F-1 and the six was in a 1950 F-1. Who know if they were swapped out years ago. I want to sell them but want to advertise them correctly. Thanks for any help
Mike
Sometimes there is a date code on the intake deck of the V8's at the right rear, but that only tells when it was made. By now it could have different heads, crank etc. Just advertise it as an 8RT.
The series is more important than the actual year of production. It sounds like you have a 239 CID V8, 8Rt and a 226 probably H series six cyl. Put some detail pictures in your advertisement and the years truck it was removed from.

Thanks for the help guys, the V-8 was out in the weather before I got it, and the 6 Cyl. has been modified with an alternator but I have not tried to turn it over yet, have put Marvel Mys. Oil in the cylinders but have to drain that out before turning over, don't need any bent valves.
Thanks , Mike
