Well I will try to post the photo later but in my travels this weekend I stopped at Cabela's and to my avail I parked next to a White F350 6.4 Power stroke. On the hood of it there was red lettering that said Powerstroke and right next to that 6.4 Twin Turbo.
Is that even a possibility? Does anyone have experience with this? I know nothing about a 6.4 so I was not sure if that is normal or if by chance this guy or gal modified their truck to have two turbos on it.
I'm wondering what the boost power would be on that truck.
Perhaps it is one of our members truck if so I was at the Cabela's in Tulalip, Wa outside of Everett area.
If you are being technically specific, they are dual. Twin would be a custom setup...hard to know what the OP was looking for based on his knowledge and the knowledge of the truck's owner. In simple terms, there are 2 turbos. In the specific, we'd need to see a pic.
The truck itself was just parked in the parking lot. I pulled up alongside and noticed the hood in the middle where it rises up the lettering in black color stating "Twin Turbo". Then just in front of that was lettering in red color stating "Powerstroke".
I was not aware of the twin setup on the 6.4 Diesels. Which is why it caught me off guard when I seen this. Too bad I didn't stick around to ask the owner if I could see under the hood.
I spent just enough time to get photo, grab my ammo and a few mags and left.
As soon as I get out of work will post the photo from my phone. Sorry without that I'm sure it is not helping much. Though if it is stock setup I guess I got my answer but like I said I was not aware of the factory setup on the 6.4 and never drove one.
The 6.4 don't have twin turbos, they are compound turbos. One is bigger than the other.
Strokin is right, The 6.4 doesnt "technically" have a twin turbo, it just has the compound turbos Ford's term for them I believe is dual sequential turbo's
I see...just doesn't seem like it is worth that extra penny. So on a side note how reliable has the 6.4 been? Again, no knowledge of and I suppose I could jump onto the 6.4 diesel thread and read all about it but figured I ask.

That really depends on who you ask. There are folks that love the 6.4 and those that hate the 6.4. The 6.4 like that 6.0 has a bad reputation ( well worse than the 6.0 according to some.
The difference btwn the 6.0 is you can do engine work with the cab on. with the 6.4 it's not so friendly to work on and most say it is a cab off engine to work on. The 6.4 is really crammed in the truck, and to most you would be looking at it and going "WTF, how do they work on thing thing"
The 6.4 can make and incredible amount of torque and has the ability to pull. Like the 6.0 the 6.4 has some engine issues that make it a problem child if not kept an eye or resolved.
One of the biggest things with the 6.4 is if the front cover gets eaten by cavitation and that coolant starts to mix with the fuel and it starts to wreak havoc. Many a engine has been hydro locked or had the engine taken out. The other thing with 6.4's is the tuning can just kill the engines if there is way too much timing in the tune. The advanced timing just can tear the engine up and the heat just kills the heads
The other thing that kills the 6.4's much like the 6.0's is the regens, if you were ever to buy one that is stock, I would say get your finances set up to do the delete if you state allows it and get rid of the egr and what not and delete it.
Way better mpg fuel wise, way more reliable and while you still need to keep an eye on the truck, it is more reliable in my opinion. Lots of 6.4's in the market place and there are good and bad ones out there. The 6.4 isnt easy on the wallet when it comes to repairs, you have to remember this is still a Navistar/Internantional engine done in conjunction with Ford which mean Navistar still has their hands in 6.4 owners pockets.
There are lots of guys here who have em and love em, and some who couldnt wait to get rid of em so there is lots of opinions on them
I've owned 6.0L motors since 2003 and now I have my first 6.4L and I could not be happier. I found mine with 122k and DPF still in place with no hint of tuning.
