So the wife went to run an errand today and her service advancetrac light popped on....again. power steering failure....again. This truck is on its 4th rack and I have a feeling this will be number 5. I'm so disgusted with this If I can bypass the system and get it going I'm trading the pos in. Why doesn't ford do something?. It's a known common issue and zero help, Ford needs a fix and to issue a recall. The truck is now out of extended warranty so this one comes out of pocket. Putting a 2k$ rack in a truck every year is unacceptable. None of my other ford trucks have ever had this issue. Sorry for the rant but I'm pissed....and worse off...she is.
Just got word the steering angle sensor is bad...AKA rack!!! She doesnt even want to fix it. Looks like we are going to a dealership tonight to try and trade it in......Great....
On rack #2 I would have been trying to discover what the mechanic was doing wrong, because clearly you are getting bad parts or bad labor. Shouldn't cost you anything.
The last rack was the 5th revision for that part number. Obviously ford knows there is an issue. 2 racks were replaced under warranty, 2 under extended warranty and this is out of pocket. Every time its been replaced we were told, "its a new parts number so this should be the last one". So its getting fixed so we can trade it in. I'd lose more if I didnt fix it with what they would deduct. On the plus side she found a used 2013 F150 limited ecoboost that she really likes, hopefully we can get the numbers right.
I'm glad they covered most of them. But I've always been told that OE parts have a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty so Ford should have covered all 5 for you.
